Sports.
Grodno is rich in sporting traditions. 5 stadiums, 93 gymnasiums, 10 swimming-pools, 44 shooting-galleries, 133 fitness halls, more than 200 various sport buildings are at the citizens' service. About 40 thousand people visit them daily. The Ice Sports Palace has been erected and the building of wrestling halls and Olympic Reserve School is being continued.
44 kinds of sports are being developed. Such sport clubs as "Grodno–93" (basketball), "Komunalnik" (volleyball), "Neman" (hockey with a puck, soccer), "Olimpia" (basketball), "Rhythm" (hockey on the grass), "Volat" (wrestling), "Vita" (for the physically-challenged), etc. are functioning in Grodno.

More than 10 thousand young sportsmen study at 23 Youth Sports Schools, Higher School of Sport Mastership and Olympic Reserve School. Faculty of Physical Culture has been opened at Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala.
Olympic champions A. Volchetskaya, B. Korbut, J. Yedeshko, A. Kurlovich, I. Shilova, K. Lukashik are widely known. A. Pavlov, U. Dubrovshchik, V. Tsilents won their medals in Atlanta. A.Varivonchik, a citizen of Grodno, was the head of Belarusian combined hockey team.
Fests at the Path of Health, competitions and Fitness Days are held annually. Two Fitness Centers and City Tourist Federation have been created.
