GRODNO RAILWAY JUNCTION. Grodno railway junction consists of Central railway station, stations on cargo transportation, Lososno station. It is based on a branch line SAINT PETERSBURG – Warsaw built in 1861. Grodno railway station is a border station of the 1st class, this is western gates of our country. It services passengers of international lines from Poland, Germany, Austria, France, Finland, Sweden, Norway and other countries. The lump capacity of the railway station's building is 1000 passengers. The average number of passengers is 1,5 mln. people. The suburban communication is realized by diesel trains ( 602 thous. passengers were sent in 1988 ).

Advanced ticket booking was organized on the station, in the booking-office agency 'Belavia ( Gorky str., 52) and other booking-offices of the city. The building of the railway station was built in 1986 (Mosgiprotrans. architect V. Grigoriev) on the place of the building of the railway station, built in 1868 in classicism style. It is located in Privokzalinaya square, closes the prospect of Ozheshko street. The 3-storeyed glass building from aluminum and concrete organically inserts into the total housing ensemble, adjoining the square. Consists of square central building and lateral ones. Booking-offices servicing passengers of suburban, local and distant places of destination, as well as examination hall for foreign passengers ( the Customs ), first-aid station, buffet, offices are on the 1st floor in the central part; waiting lounge, cafe for 100 places with banquet hall, kiosks, hairdresser's and back rooms, controllers' offices are on the 2nd floor; a room of long rest, of mother and child are on the 3rd floor; an automatic baggage room for hand luggage is on the ground floor. In left part of the 1st floor there is a baggage compartment with the examination of foreign passengers, sanitary-checking post, accumulating room; on the 2nd floor there are back rooms of the Customs, checking-border post and others.
