Chemical industry constitutes a greater half of all industrial production in the city. The biggest enterprises of this branch are: the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Grodno Industrial Amalgamation "Azot", the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Grodno Industrial Amalgamation "Synthetic Fibres Mill"
The "Azot" produces over 50 kinds of the chemical output, including ammonia, ammonium sulphate, sulphuric acid, nitric fertilizers, weak nitric acid, methanol, caprolactam and others. These products are exported to Russia, the Ukraine, Latvia, Poland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Slovakia, Malaysia, Brazil, the USA.
The Syntactic Fibres Mill produces cord capron fabric for heavy-duty truck tyres, capron fibre for technical purposes, textured fibre for carpet industry, polyamid, etc.
Food processing industry makes over 17,9 % of the total volume of industrial output. The leading enterprises in the branch, such as the joint-stock open companies «Myasokombinat», the Republican Unitary Enterprises «Grodnomolkombinat», «Grodnohlebprom», the Brewery are the oldest ones. The share of the meat-processing plant makes 45 % of the total value of the city foodstuffs production.
The Dairy Produce United Works provides the city with different wholemilk products, ice-cream, mayonnaise, yoghurt (about 100 denominations), the Bread-baking Plant provides Grodno with bread (70 denominations) and confectionery (90 denominations).
The Republican Unitary Enterprise «Grodno Tobacco Factory "Neman" produces 24 denominations of tobacco goods. The alcoholic drinks and beer production belongs to Liquer and Vodka Plant and the Brewery.
Machine-building and metal-working make 12,4 % of the industrial output volume in the city. The largest enterprises are – open joint-stock company "Belkard", Grodno Republican Unitary Enterprise "Radiovolna", the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Automobile Units Plant", the Republican Unitary Enterprise " Lathe Chuck Plant "BelTAPAZ", the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Commercial Equipment Plant "Grodnotorgmash". This branch produces shock-absorbers, shock struts, gas springs, brake chambers, propeller shafts and spare parts to them, generators, radio-sets, TV-sets, lathe chucks, dishwashers, electrical water-heaters and others.
Light industry refers to one of the leading branches of industry in the city as well, making 9 % of the total industrial output. The largest enterprises are: Grodno Republican Unitary Industrial Enterprise "Gronitex", Republican Unitary Industrial Enterprise "Grodnotextile", open joint-stock companies – Sewing-commercial company "Elod", glove factory "Accent", "Grodno Foot-wear Factory "Neman", Republican Unitary Enterprise "Grodno Industrial Tanning Amalgamation" and others. The range of their products is wide. These are woolen cloth, knitted-wear, gloves and mittens, hosiery, sewing thread, cotton yarn, leather foot-wear and many others.
Due to its parameters and quality the goods of the city enterprises are known not only in our republic but also far abroad. 45 % of the output is exported.
Grodno industrial enterprises, irrespective of the property form and institutional subordination, are reliable partners and suppliers of their goods.
