Culture.
The city on the Neman has rich and long-lasting historical traditions which continue to be followed by our descendants.
There are more than 200 amateur art groups in Grodno and 45 of them have the title "folk" and "model". Among them one can mention singing and dancing groups:  "Neman", "Pralitsa", "Vianok", "Ranitsa", "Garadnitsa", "Krynichka", "Sintez", "Dudaryki". State Music, Song and Dance Ensemble "Beliya Rosy" is widely known beyond the borders of Belarus. Not a single city celebration is possible without the brass band "Garadzenskiya Truby". Grodno choir and chamber orchestra (artistic conductor U.M. Bormotov) is the bearer of the 18th century spiritual traditions and those of Antony Tyzengauz's choir.Folk handicrafts and trades such as straw and rod weaving, artistic processing of leather and wool, smithing and carving on wood, stone processing and ceramics are being developed on the basis of people's heritage.

The Drama and the Puppet Theatres, the Historical Archeological Museum and the only in Belarus Museum of the History of Religion, the Craftsmanship Museum, the House – Museum of a Belarusian poet Maxim Bogdanovich and that of Eliza Ozheshko, a Polish writer, are the pride of the city. There are also the Philharmonic Society, several cinema-halls, and the Zoo – the only one  in the Republic of Belarus, located in Grodno.
National celebrations and festivals of national cultures, traditions and crafts, the Guitar Music festival "The Guitar Singing over Garodnia", the Popular Belarusian music festival "The Song over the Neman", "Students' Spring", the International Piano Music Festival, the national Festival of the Theatrical Youth, etc. are held annually in Grodno.
There are 7 associations of national culture in Grodno, representing different nationalities - Russian, Lithuanian, Polish, Ukrainian, Tartar, Jew and Chuvash ones. It is the historical example of peaceful coexistence of numerous peoples on the territory of Grodno that contributed to  the Nation- wide Festival of Folk Cultures creation, Grodno was chosen to be the capital of the festival. In June, 2002 our city will welcome its participants hospitably.
